Filler is an art. And your aftercare is part of the canvas. Follow these instructions to protect your results and let everything settle beautifully.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
How to Prepare
01
Avoid blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) for 72 hours before your appointment to minimize bruising.
02
Book at least 4-6 weeks before any major event. Filler takes ~3 weeks to fully incorporate; swelling may be visible before then.
03
Skip alcohol for 72 hours post-treatment. It increases swelling and bruising.
04
Discontinue Retin-A 2 days before your appointment.
05
Reschedule if you have a cold sore, rash, cold, or active blemish in the treatment area.
06
If you have a history of cold sores, let your provider know in advance. We may recommend a prophylactic treatment.
07
Not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
After Care Instructions
01
Do not touch your face for 6 hours after treatment. After 6 hours, you may gently cleanse with a mild cleanser.
02
You can wear makeup after 24 hours.
03
Do not massage the treated area. Let your tissues incorporate naturally over 2–4 weeks. Exception: Sculptra requires massage per your provider's instructions.
04
Avoid intense heat (sauna, steam room, hot yoga) for 24–48 hours.
05
Sleep elevated if possible for the first few nights to reduce swelling.
06
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
07
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
08
Do not use AHAs, retinol, or vitamin C products for 24 hours.
09
Avoid facials, waxing, IPL, or energy-based treatments for 2 weeks.
10
Swelling and asymmetry are normal in the first few weeks — do not judge your results before 4 weeks.
11
Do not ice the area unless directed by your provider — icing filler can cause nodules.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your Results Timeline
24-72 HOURS
Swelling, bruising, and tenderness are normal. Your lips may look uneven — this is temporary swelling, not the final result.
7-14 DAYS
Swelling resolves. Product begins integrating into your tissue. Asymmetry should be reducing.
3-4 WEEKS
Final results are visible. Schedule your 4-week review if any touch-up or refinement is needed.
WHEN TO CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY
Call us at (303) 351-1418 immediately if you notice skin turning white, gray, or developing a fishnet-like discoloration — this may indicate a vascular occlusion and requires immediate attention. Also call for increasing redness, warmth, pain, or pus that worsens after 24 hours.
