How long does Sculptra last?
Sculptra results can last up to two years. Your provider will talk through what to expect from your own treatment plan.
When will I see results from Sculptra?
You will see some volume right away, but that comes from the water carrier and it is temporary. It fades as the water absorbs, which is normal. Noticeable results begin in 6 to 8 weeks as your body builds new collagen, and they keep improving over the next 6 months.
How many treatments will I need?
Sculptra is done in a series of treatments. Your provider will build a customized plan with you, and results build with each session.
How do I prepare for Sculptra?
Book at least 2 weeks before any special event or vacation, and reschedule if you develop a cold, flu, cold sore or skin condition in the treatment area.
Stop blood-thinning supplements at least 1 week before: aspirin if approved by your doctor, ibuprofen, Aleve, fish oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, ginkgo, ginseng and garlic. Talk to your provider about any prescription blood thinners, and avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your treatment.
Sculptra is not suitable if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have autoimmune disorders. Please let your provider know if you have any autoimmune conditions.
What is the aftercare for Sculptra?
Massage the treated areas 5 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for 5 days after treatment. This step is essential for Sculptra results.
Keep your head elevated for at least 4 hours, and avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours. Swelling, redness and possible bruising are normal and typically resolve within 7 days.
Avoid extended sun exposure until any redness or swelling has resolved, and wear SPF 30+ daily. Wait 2 weeks before having any other aesthetic treatments, and resume your topical skincare routine 2 to 3 days after your injection.
