If you’ve been thinking about smoothing fine lines, adding a little volume, or just looking more like the version of yourself you see in your head, you’ve probably landed on two options: Botox and dermal fillers.
Both are minimally invasive. Both deliver real results. And both have earned their place as the most popular non-surgical treatments in aesthetic medicine for good reason.
But they do very different things, and understanding that difference is how you get results you actually love, not just results that look “done.”
Here’s everything you need to know to make the right call for your face, your goals, and your budget.
What Is Botox?
Botox is the gold-standard treatment for softening expression lines — the ones that show up when you frown, squint, or raise your eyebrows. It was FDA-approved for cosmetic use in 2002, and over 7 million Americans receive Botox injections every year.
How It Works
Botox is a purified protein that temporarily relaxes the muscles underneath your skin. When those muscles stop contracting as forcefully, the lines they create, forehead creases, frown lines, crow’s feet, soften and smooth out.
The result: you still look like you. You still make expressions. You just look more rested, more relaxed, and a whole lot less stressed.
Where We Use It
Botox works best on dynamic wrinkles — lines caused by repeated muscle movement, primarily in the upper face. See our full list of Botox treatment areas at Original Glam:
- Forehead lines — those horizontal creases across your forehead
- Frown lines — the vertical “11” lines between your brows
- Crow’s feet — fine lines at the outer corners of your eyes
- Bunny lines — subtle lines along the sides of your nose
- Chin dimpling — a pebbled or textured chin
- Jawline slimming — relaxing the masseter muscle for a slimmer, more contoured jaw
Botox is also FDA-approved for chronic migraines, excessive sweating, and jaw tension — so it’s not just about aesthetics.
How Long Does It Last?
You’ll start to notice results within 3 to 7 days, with full effect visible around 10 to 14 days. From there, results typically hold for 3 to 4 months — though regular clients sometimes see effects lasting up to 6 months. Most people come in 3 to 4 times a year to maintain their look.
What affects how long your Botox lasts: the dose and technique used, your metabolism, the strength of the muscles being treated, and how consistently you keep up with treatments.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Fillers are your go-to for restoring volume, enhancing features, and smoothing the kind of lines that stick around even when your face is completely at rest. Think: fuller lips, lifted cheeks, softened smile lines, and a more defined jawline — all without surgery. View the full range of filler treatments at Original Glam.
How They Work
Starting around age 25, your body produces roughly 1% less collagen each year. Fat pads in the face shift and diminish. Skin loses elasticity. The result is volume loss — cheeks flatten, lips thin, under-eye hollows deepen, and everything starts to drift south.
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances (most commonly hyaluronic acid, a molecule your body already produces) that are injected beneath the skin to replace lost volume, smooth deeper lines, and enhance your natural contours. Results are visible immediately, and many formulations also stimulate your own collagen production over time.
The look can be as subtle or as sculpted as you want; it’s entirely tailored to your goals.
Where We Use Them
Fillers work best on static wrinkles (lines present even when your face is relaxed) and areas where volume has faded:
- Cheeks — midface lifting and fullness
- Lips — enhancement, definition, and hydration
Types of Fillers
- Nasolabial folds — the smile lines running from nose to mouth
- Marionette lines — lines from the corners of the mouth down to the chin
- Under-eye hollows — tear trough correction
- Jawline and chin — definition and contouring
- Temples — volume restoration
- Hands — smoothing and plumping
Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, RHA) are the most popular. They look natural, have a strong safety profile, and are reversible, meaning they can be dissolved if needed. Effects typically last 6 to 18 months, with some formulations lasting up to 2 years.
Other options include calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse, 12 to 18 months), poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra, 2+ years), and semi-permanent fillers like PMMA (Bellafill, 5+ years).
How Long Do Fillers Last?
It depends on the product, the area treated, your metabolism, and how much product is used. A general guide:
- Fine-line HA fillers: ~12 months
- Lip and moderate-line HA fillers: 12+ months
- Deep-fold and cheek HA fillers: 12 to 24 months
- Collagen stimulators (Sculptra): 2+ years
Can You Use Both? (Yes — and It’s One of Our Favorite Approaches)
Combining Botox and fillers is one of the most effective strategies in aesthetics. Sometimes called a “liquid facelift,” the idea is simple: Botox smooths expression lines in the upper face while fillers restore volume and lift in the mid-to-lower face. Together, they create a balanced, refreshed look that addresses multiple concerns at once — no surgery required.
A few ways we combine them at Original Glam:
- Full-face refresh: Botox for the upper face + fillers for cheeks, lips, or smile lines = a complete, cohesive result
- Facial balancing: Botox for jawline slimming + filler for chin projection = better proportions
- Preventive + restorative: Botox to keep new lines from forming + strategic filler where volume has already faded
Our injectors design these combination plans around your specific anatomy and goals — nothing cookie-cutter.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Your Consultation
Every treatment starts with a real conversation. We look at your facial structure, talk through what’s been bugging you (and what you love), review your history, and map out a plan that makes sense for your goals and budget: no pressure, no upselling — just honest guidance.
The Treatment Itself
Botox: Quick — about 10-15 minutes. Small, precise injections into the targeted muscles. Most clients describe it as tiny pinches. No numbing needed, and you can get right back to your day.
Fillers: A bit longer — 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the areas treated. We may apply a numbing cream beforehand, and most fillers already contain lidocaine for comfort. Your injector will gently shape and smooth the product for the most natural result. You can return to your normal routine right after, though we recommend skipping intense workouts for 24 hours.
Aftercare
After Botox:
- Stay upright for about 4 hours
- Don’t touch or press on the treated areas for 24 hours
- Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, facials, and peels for 24 hours
- Results appear gradually over 3 to 14 days
After Fillers:
- Avoid touching or massaging treated areas for 24 to 48 hours (unless your injector says otherwise)
- Ice as needed to reduce swelling
- Sleep with your head slightly elevated for a couple of nights
- Hold off on intense exercise, alcohol, and blood-thinning supplements for 24 to 48 hours
- Minor swelling and possible bruising are normal and typically fade within a week
- Skip saunas and hot tubs for 2 weeks
- Results are immediate, but the final look settles in after swelling goes down (1 to 2 weeks)
What Our Clients Are Saying

Original Glam is the best Medspa! Jackie works magic with Botox, filler, and facial balancing—I always leave feeling amazing. I've also tried facials, microneedling, and the Advatx laser with great results. The staff makes you feel like family. I was hesitant about the membership, but it’s totally worth it and a steal. I’ll be a client for life!

As a guy who wasn’t into this, I’ve been impressed with the results. Jackie started with Botox for a knot in my back and has been smoothing out my smile and forehead wrinkles—my family even says I look younger! Her team is also clearing up my clogged pores and breakouts. Jackie is personable, passionate, and it shows in her work and results!
What you’ll notice in both: natural-looking results, a warm and welcoming environment, and a team that treats every client like a person — not a number.
What Does It Cost?
Botox
- Per treatment: $300–$600 per area (charged per unit, typically $10–$20/unit)
- Average units per visit: 20–60, depending on what you’re treating
- How often: Every 3–4 months
- Annual investment: Roughly $1,200–$2,400
Fillers
- Per syringe: $800–$1,200
- How many syringes: 1–4, depending on your goals
- How long they last: 12–24 months, depending on the product
- Example — lips (1 syringe): $800
- Example — cheeks + smile lines (2–4 syringes): $1,200–$4,800
Combination treatments often come with discounted pricing. Our membership program includes injectable perks that make regular visits more affordable. And while fillers cost more upfront, they last significantly longer — so the per-month value is often comparable to Botox.
The biggest value consideration? The skill of your injector. Experience costs more — and it’s worth every penny.
